AMY'S FRENCH TOAST

Sourdough Saturday - January 20, 2021

Serves 4

Ingredients:

8 slices of sourdough bread (or 4 large slices)

1 cup milk (dairy or alternative)

2 large eggs

2 tbsp. sugar

1 tsp. vanilla extract

1 tsp. ground cinnamon

1 tsp. ground nutmeg

butter or oil for frying

granulated sugar

Directions:

  1. Whisk together the milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg.

  2. Preheat a frying pan on medium heat with some butter or oil. 

  3. Place as many slices of bread as will fit in your bowl into the egg mix, and soak them for 1 minute per side.

  4. Lift the bread out of the mix and sprinkle some granulated sugar on both sides of the bread, then place the bread into the hot frying pan.

  5. Fry each piece until golden brown on each side.
